The North Carolina Disaster Assistance Manual is provided as a resource to attorney volunteers who are fielding questions from those affected by disasters. This Manual is a starting point and is not intended to be the sole resource for you to rely on in providing legal assistance to those affected by natural disasters.

This manual was modeled closely upon the work of the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, Lone Star Legal Aid, and the Texas Access to Justice Commission with their permission and with the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center’s thanks. Relevant content has been updated with North Carolina law and information by a host of volunteers. Each Manual section identifies its respective volunteer efforts, but the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center is grateful for all the volunteers who helped make this resource available.

Thanks to the many firms and organizations that volunteered to update manual sections.
